this morning went really well and was very fun. we found the hospital fine and made our way up to the ultrasound unit of the hospital. we didn't have too long of a wait - but during the wait both tim and i read that you are only allowed to have one other person in the room with you. immediately my stomach started churning. tim, sensing my worry, patted my leg and told me it would be ok. the guy called us back and did not blink an eye as the four of us walked into the room. whew.
the ultrasound lasted about 40 min. during the ultrasound he had me leave a couple of times to empty my bladder - for my own relief and to encourage the baby to change positions. the way the baby was positioned made a few shots a bit difficult but after some twisting and turning he got the shots he needed.
it was definitely a different ultrasound experience than the first time. the first time we watched the baby kick and punch and move around - with the focus being on the baby's profile and size. this time the focus was getting good shots of the brain, heart, organs, stomach, etc. and we did not see many profile shots. but it was still so fun. seeing the spine and heart and brain was a trip - very cool. everything looked ok to me but when we meet with the midwife next week she will go over the results with us.
we were also not able to take any video - as it is against the rules of the hospital (i think the first place we went was very lax). so bummer about that, but he did print us off some pictures. which i will post soon.
the baby was moving around and twirling quite a bit during the ultrasound. the baby even did a headstand for us towards the end. but no major kicks or punches (that i could feel anyways). and no, we didn't find out the sex of the baby. but it was tempting. and by the way the baby was positioned it would have been nearly impossible to be flashed. so boy or girl - it is still a secret. we will have to wait until june.
i am so thankful my mom and sister were able to join us! having them there felt really good.
so there you go. a great morning. i wasn't really in the mood to go to work after. oh well. i may just leave early :)

At one moment I thought, ITS A BOY, but then I thought ITS A GIRL! So we still dont know. The anticipation is killing me!
