this morning after weeks and weeks of work and waiting we went to the us consulate in downtown vancouver. we went with the hopes of applying for sammy's us citizenship, passport, social security number... and walked away one step short...
apparently one's original marriage license is good enough for changing your name on your passport and social security number and driver's license and everything else.... but it is NOT good enough for your child, when wanting to prove her citizenship. we, in fact, need a certified marriage certificate. so we have to send out for one from the good state of michigan, and wait, and then send that in to the consulate. let me just say i am going to be pretty annoyed if they send us a copy of what we already have with a stamp on it :)
thankfully we completed everything except that - so once we send it in we are good to go - it is only a matter of time. and then... finally... samantha jean knipp will be an american.
and she had better thank us one day for all of this work!!
