Sarah's Key
My mom gave me Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay for Christmas. I read it in three days. I couldn't put it down - searching for redemption - out of the pain. This book is NOT for the faint of heart. Let me repeat: not for the faint of heart. But you will read it quickly. And it's like watching a good but really painful movie - glad you watched it but prayerful for those who experienced it. The book's actuate and brutal portrayal of the Holocaust sent me to my knees.

I loved it too. I blazed through it in two days - it's so good, and so hard to read at the same time. I felt all the same stuff you wrote about!
